Michael and the Serpent by Skyrion Michael and the Serpent by Skyrion
My submission for the "Good Vs Evil" competition. Had lotsa fun in doing it. As its about angel vs the devil, i tried to go for the old oil painting masters' work, well... i tried :D. I think this is the longest time i ever spent on an artpiece, took nearly a week, a few hours a day, figuring out the poses and getting the values. As usual, I worked on the greyscale before moving on to the colors.

Got feedbacks and suggestions from several good friends and artists :iconharuningster: :iconprincess-aki: :iconmujiri:

Thanks a lot fellas!
Good competition theme! Love it!

Hey I really dig this image.  A College Christian Brotherhood I'm organizing at Shepherd University is looking for cool images of Michael and the angels to use in ads and maybe t-shirts. Would you mind if we use your image in any of this?  If not I understand.

The dragon looks terrifying, just the way I would expect the Devil to be.
And Michael looks very powerful, just the way the General of Heaven's armies should be! :)

I’ve always had a fascination with angels, but so many portrayals of them these days
leave a lot to be desired!

For instance a lot of times angels are portrayed as cute little babies with wings.
Angels are NOT cute little babies! They are powerful servants of GOD!

I especially hate seeing angels portrayed as half naked girls or as male strippers with wings!
No angel would ever act that way! They are holy servants of GOD and act to glorify HIM!

When I see a picture like yours that portrays an angel in an accurate way, its like a breath
of fresh air!

GOD bless!

Hi there,

I am making a card game for my last year project for the Universoty of Kent (UK).
I would like to know if I could use this for one of the cards.
Please, let me know as soon as possible.

You don't have to worry about that.
Your name or alias will be on the card that your artwork is going to go to and on the credits of the game as a contributor.

Also, I think I might split the image and make it a two-parter if that is ok with you.
That way the character's will show better, I think.

The clouds are done using a custom brush. All i need to worry about are the lighting thats all. Heh heh, glad you like it and thanks for the compliment.

Oh wow, look at all the details! The colors work well with the composition, and the time you spent on this piece really shows through. Astounding job~ Good luck! =)
